sounds like you're livin' in the past man....

Ahhh, the 90's. Grunge revisited, and all the playful styles in between....

As I finally settled down into my new apartment, a friend of mine came over and I noticed--her look was very 90's inspired. I loved it. Her being born in the late 90's, I can see why her style is pushed towards neutral beige-y slouched knits, circular rose tinted specs, white washed straight levi's, silver accented backpack and ankle tie-up boots. I on the otherhand, being born in the 80's--my look was askew. I was wearing a black tuxedo cropped jacket with flowy lapels and shoulder pads, long over-sized rogan heathered tee, black pleather leggings, boots and my fave geode necklace. Very 80's inspired.
I guess we tend to lean towards style we can reminisce about and remember. I've always wondered when people walk out of their house in a certain ensemble, what were they thinking? what were they going for? what's their outfit's story? sometimes it being a negative reason why I ask that--given I currently reside in LA...home of the pink terry cloth track suits & bedazzled man shirts. hah.

So...I've done it! As painful as it was, something you should never do after a bad breakup...listen to sad depressing and rather angst-y music that's based around bad relationships.hahah
No Doubt is my worst enemy right now. I was such a huge fan in the third grade. I came across the "sunday morning" music video...then came across "ex-girlfriend" and "simple kind of life"...totally didn't help. I know it's been a while buttttt I never dwelled on the whole situation when I was in the moment, so thinking of the "us" I used to be apart of while listening to these songs....totally didn't help. But there's a silver lining people!!!!
In the "it's my life" music video, gwen had some pretty amazing get ups....am I inspired to wear furry keychains around my body & crimp my hair??? kinda.

Here's my retro-spective:
