Most girls would say ewwwww. But as a girlfriend of a guy that has one(and it's sooo cute!) I can honestly say, why not? (and this is not because I get to bounce quarters off his tummy). When guys are wearing their frayed skin-tight bermuda shorts, loose v-necks, generic slip-ons and straw fedoras, they're showing off the pouch underneath it all! It's been coined "The Ralph Kramden".
In my culture (although I'm no devotist), being rich is portrayed through your gut or how fat you are.I know, complete reverse of how california lives and breathes.
reason 1: too many women in the work place leave men jobless, even careless (about their appearance)
reason 2: men are tired of washboard abs and deltoid driven attitudes, going to the gym seemed hip a few years back, it's kinda feminine now. especially when guys go as far as full body sprayed in tanning liquid.
reason 3: hipsters don't want to be like their president. obama being healthy and fit(he hits the gym every morning).
reason 4: being healthy just recently got expensive. (ie. whole foods sells organic apple juice for 8 dollars versus sam's club selling apple juice cocktails for 3.25 for 2 huge bottles). Going to McDonald's is easy, it's fast-efficient and cheap!dollar menus just make more sense to a guy than paying 6 bucks for a cup of fruit at their local organic shop. economic changes horray!!!
Either way, bouncin' potbellies are here to stay!
