I recently read an article on Y! News (I get all my updates there, shoot me)which led me to an article on livescience.com about how scientists found out there is a use for our previously claimed 'vestigial' appendixes. It turns out, it holds good bacteria for us when we eat raw meat and dirty stuffs. Since we evolved, we no longer need that bacteria (because we cook our meat until the bacteria is all dead, it's remarkably difficult to get salmonella these days...)This fact renders out appendixes useless. like how ostriches have wings, but don't fly. It's all natural selection. Well some forum trolls decided to debunk this idea with random sayings like: "who do you people pay so much money and spend so much time looking for the truth, can't you just chalk it up to faith, and believe god made us these way, why make things so complicated???"
That is retarded.
haha. okay.
First of all, as humans we wouldn't have progressed as far as we had if we didn't question ourselves and our surroundings. Electricity wouldn't have been discovered, many vaccines would of not been discovered if it were not to our curious minds, (ie. someone has an illness-instead of figuring out how to prevent or cure the illness, one blames it on demons or chalk it up to a test of faith theory, like god's test of faith).
That's stupid. I'm not saying religion in any way is stupid, but the certain people behind certain religions give such a powerful tool in our lives a bad name. People use it as a way to cripple themselves and others. Religion and Science are too different things, let me just declare that. Science holds a skeptical philosophy, scientists look for answers constantly, they search for clear-cut evidence to back up an idea and correct mistakes in all experimentations/observations/tests; while religion frequently clings to old ideas and denies new evidence.
Science never seems to attack religion because real logic and evidence is not threatened by emotional arguments, logical fallacies and rationalizations. These religious zealots go to livescience.com to argue because they fear the any truth which challenges their beliefs, we don’t go to religious sites to argue because we have nothing to prove.
What I hate: when people bring up Darwin's incestuous marriage. As if his own tests on his family to see if humans can improve themselves as animals do when looking for key traits in DNA can be used against him as if to say his ideas are not fact.(It proves his dedication to his theory and findings if anything, how else are we suppose to know we can't commit incest because it truly is wrong and has major side-effects in reproduction)
Okay religious nuts desperately trying to keep revenue in your churches, here's the reality-
Evolutionary biology is a science that has been developed over time through careful experimentation and examination of the evidence via the scientific method. Natural selection became an accepted fact not because scientist liked the ideas proposed by Darwin but because the evidence supported it.Evidence!!!! something you do not have, but you got a whole lot of faith, that counts for somethin, right?HAha.
After reading what some middle-aged ignorant rednecks had to say about science and vestigial tails (besides from going totally off topic) I've come to realize that Eugenics isn't such a bad idea. some people deserve it. I'm thinking about having that tree logo somehow turned into a patch for my school-looking blazer.cute.
By the way:
