Nicolas Ghesquière has always been very conscious of the drop-waist dress silhouette that seems to grace his runway every season; whether it be with drape-y volume or simplistic structure--it all screams the essence of Balenciaga. The collection for Spring Ready To Wear 2011 is no exception to this un-written rule of the fashion house, for SP2011 it's all about short crops that are spiky and disheveled (thankfully I chopped off my locks--i'm ahead of the game people!!), the classic leaf-paneled dress revisited in a shiny new houndstooth pattern (huge fan of Cristobal's cocoon shaped coat, so i'm like obsessed with the dress--besides...when has nostalgia ever been bad in fashion??), flats that wholly resemble creepers, technically complex dresses (laser cut PVC is pretty high-tech to me!ever try sewing with PVC? it's a bitch!), long dual printed vests, moto-cardi combos lined with wool and trimmed in leather, printed button down organza pocketed tops, bold metallic buckled ankle boots, insanely feathered sandals, scallop laced skirt cages, quilted motorcycle jackets & rounded lapels that give off a dynasty vibe ( if dynasty met tron that is...) with touches of junior high punk. I would say this collection is less about mixing up the past with the future, and more about individuality--testing out the waters of the youth, masculinity & finally... graphics.
Although I have to say the cuffed pleather is kind of disgusting. eww, it reminds me of ill-fitting denim back in junior high dayssss...
The last two minimalistic ones are uhhh-mazinggg<3
