event:selling clothes at vintage shops [haight/ashbury]
I'm not the sort of person to usually sell my clothes, jewlery, shoes and accesories to the very vintage shops i bought them from but i recently have had no choice.(way behind in my phone bill)I rummaged through my closet for clothes too short, too small and just way out of style to get some good cash on. I had two huge bags filled with clothes and shoes plus a few accesories (like my hefty scarf collection). So i journeyed to buffalo exchange, crossroads and wasteland. I had to sign a piece of paper and wait a good 15 minutes until they called my name. At buffalo, some yuppy 20-something rampantly glanced in my heavy selection of blouses and shoes. He was very picky. I became nervous, i'm afterall not so used to some stranger judging my clothes as "hip" or "vintage boutique worthy" at first glance then giving it the toss to the side. I had to sell my brand new sam edelman fringe boots (originally 160 dollars) for 15 dollars! I was heartbroken. It's like the gamestop of vintage shops-super rip off!!!! he took half of my clothes for 51.80.
I went to crossroads, even pickier people! they only accept designer brands!! so they only took two items and i got 5 bucks. wasteland, for having a lot of obscure "ironic" shitty tees, they sure went through mines fast, they were even pickier! i got nothing from them. By then, my friend and i were tired of walking around heaving two massive bags of ugly clothes. We ventured home and gave up.
