This being the foundation of the primer question he asked me weeks before about fashion. He didn't see the appeal of it and how I could possibly want to be apart of an industry that "ostracizes women". So hopefully this project will enlighten him & his views on fashion.
An added plus is that Diane Pernet & Tavi Gevinson are doing a talenthouse collab for artists like my friend and I to submit our video. It's for ASHADEDVIEWONFASHION. Which should push me even harder into finishing this project by August.
I m a bit worried where the direction of the film is going.
At first we were thinking documentary but then we were going jenny haniver by camille route....I DON'T KNOW.
Anyways I am going to give an idea of it on this post.
Things I find beautiful:
Things that cause deception in beauty:
In the film I want it to be known that all these "standards" that feminist groups bitch and moan about are the very standards they have placed on themselves over time. A man may say something simple as "I like you in those shoes, they make your feet look petite and your legs longer", and the woman make take it as "i need to bind my feet to make them smaller! and make my ankles look endless!!"
It is these interpretations that elude us to the real fact is beauty isn't perfection.
Beauty is Truth.
Beauty is about the imperfections, the sudden twist in the expected, the difference and change in a freckle or line, the hue of colors or the rough textures. It is about stating something for what it is. That, to me is beautiful.
