The sharp edged ultra feminine Marchesa or the billowy-draped sexy style of Lanvin?
It's the question on my mind when fall rolls around; fall being my favorite of the fashion seasons, fall collections just seem to illuminate far more than the skimpy resort collections or the bright predictable spring collections. Fall has always meant to me as an inventive follow through of storytelling & imagination.
And just like in the seasons, there are stark differences in certain collections such as Marchesa & Lanvin.
Marchesa has always been about asymmetrical lapels defying the laws of gravity, big frilly bows starched and arched in arctic complexity, fantasy driven silhouettes & glowing tulle bodices elegantly embroidered with sequins.
Lanvin on the other hand, is about the drape of soft curves onto bias wraps, gentle knots on shoulder caps, layers of charmeuse bunched up into bows & pencil skirt short dresses.
Dreams versus Business.
Fantasy versus Reality.
Hard edges versus Soft edges.
Romance versus Sex.

It's a bit hard to be choosy especially with the recent super mega embellished metallic bodices that just rolled out Lanvin FALL RTW10:
How could I resist right? Black is my everything. Gold-even better.
Sorry but I'm Team Marchesa on this one. :D
