So...lately I've been on this androgyny rampage, making edgy look softer considering my short length of hair--i now carefully consider every garment choice an opportunity to create a so called "man-ish appearance" seem more feminine and sweet. Buttttt....as of recent I am obsessed with Levis...I don't know why, I've never really been a jean girl, I used to get my jeans at the swap-meet for 12 dollars once a year, that's how much I didn't care for denim...oh and double denim-HAH! I would never venture into such rough circumstances...that is unless I found a really great pair of black denim to accompany a really faded or light washed denim jacket/chambray button-down. But that hasn't happened yet.
I went into the Levis store yesterday before work, to kill time right? and I felt I needed to jump on the denim trend bandwagon before it was too late--which it might be but it's never too late to try something new...
I saw a really cute assymetrical light washed denim button down jacket, that resembled a feather-light pea coat, purely for aesthetic purposes-I highly doubt it could keep you warm even here in hot as hell LA...everything seems like it's meant to be layered-which I don't mind! Then I came across the 675 denim leggings in a royal dark blue wash....They fit like heaven, I cuffed the ends and put on my shiny black tap shoes-perfect! I neeeeed them. I dream about them. I'm in love with them. I thought to myself...
"I think I'm having a relationship with these pants, it was literally a jolt of lust and scary obsession--like it's middle school all over again and that cute boy across the hall seemed somewhat not so irritating like the rest of my classmates....but tolerable and even kissable--GASP!"To even top it off I found a really adorable red plaid button down that doesn't give me this ugly boxy shape like I borrowed it from my boyfriend or something but it fits loose and nicely, perfect to layer under my over-sized black v-neck sweater that I got at a garage sale for 10 cents, but it's from Banana Republic hahah. Then I would put a starry brooch right in the center of the collar, put on some cozy gray ankle socks and flat ankle boots. It has a london-esque appeal but it maintains a sense of girly demure. I love this look, so I created a similar collage of it. Not so direct but you get the point, right?
